Metropolitan Antonie leads Vărvăreuca feast in Moldova; Priest Venceslau Grosu marks 25‑year ministry in Constanța
On 18 July 2026 the parish of Saint Serghie of Radoneï in Vărvăreuca, Florești district, Moldova celebrated its feast with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by Metropolitan Antonie, Archbishop of Chișinău and Exarch of the Plains. The service was attended by local officials, clergy and faithful from both banks of the Prut. In his homily the Metropolitan emphasized the call to holiness within the family, stating, “Sainthood is not a privilege reserved for a few chosen ones, but the vocation of every baptized person.” He highlighted the role of parents, especially mothers, in forming children’s spiritual lives.
A week earlier, on 12 July 2026, the Catholic community in Constanța, Romania gathered at the Maria Chapel of the Christian Aid to commemorate the 25‑year priestly jubilee of Fr. Venceslau Grosu, SDB. The Mass featured a sermon by Fr. Emil Moraru, who quoted the Salesian founder: “Da mihi animās, cētera tolle” (“Give me souls, take away the rest”). The celebration praised Fr. Grosu’s long‑standing pastoral work with youth and his contributions to the local parish over 16 years.
Both events underscored the significance of religious service and community in their respective locales.
