Metrotel to acquire millions of customers from Telecom in Argentina

The National Competition Authority (ANC) has approved Metrotel as the buyer for a significant portion of customers that Telecom must divest to finalize its acquisition of Telefónica. This transaction will transfer approximately six million mobile telephony users and 200,000 fixed internet customers to Metrotel.

Historically focused on the corporate and wholesale sectors, Metrotel will transition into the mass consumer market. The company possesses extensive infrastructure, including over 8,000 kilometers of fiber optics across Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Córdoba, Rosario, and Neuquén. Metrotel is owned by international funds Riverwood Capital Partners and Blackstone Tactical Opportunities Advisors.

Telecom and Metrotel will now enter negotiations to determine the final price for the transfer of these assets. Once a definitive agreement is reached, it must be presented to the ANC for final approval.
