Metso expands data-driven mining services, connects over 800 equipment

Metso says its Data‑driven Performance Services now monitor more than 800 pieces of mining equipment worldwide, more than double the number connected since the service launched in September 2025. The company reports that the services, which combine standard instrumentation, advanced analytics, AI models and failure‑mode analysis, detect 80‑90% of potential issues, improve maintenance efficiency and safety, raise equipment availability by up to 6% and cut CO₂ emissions by as much as 20% per tonne.

A deployment at a South American processing site achieved a 94% risk‑capture rate, avoided over 215 hours of unplanned downtime and generated roughly US$7.4 million in value during the first six months. "Connected equipment enables fast analysis and actions," said Arttu‑Matti Matinlauri, Vice President of Minerals Digital at Metso.
