Metso is expanding its digital and physical service capabilities within the mining sector. In July 2026, the company reported that its Data-driven Performance Services had grown to monitor over 800 pieces of equipment globally, doubling its connectivity since September 2025. These services utilize AI models and advanced analytics to detect potential issues and improve efficiency, with one South American site reporting a 94% risk-capture rate.

Following these digital advancements, Metso has committed significant capital to physical infrastructure in South America. The company has invested approximately EUR 45 million over two years to modernize service centers across the continent. This includes a EUR 19 million project for a new facility in Minas Gerais, Brazil, scheduled to open in early 2028, as well as expansions in Chile and Peru, and new technical support infrastructure in Argentina.

Recent updates confirm specific regional developments, including capacity expansions in Antofagasta, Chile, and Parauapebas, Brazil, alongside the construction of a new facility in La Joya, Arequipa, Peru. Furthermore, Metso opened a new office in San Juan, Argentina, during the second quarter of 2026, with ongoing plans to invest in specialized technical support infrastructure in that location.
