Mexicali authorities arrest two high-ranking members of Los Rusos

Authorities in the Mexicali Valley have detained two high-ranking members of the criminal group ‘Los Rusos’ following separate operations.

Felipe de Jesús, known as ‘El Canelo,’ was arrested after a vehicle pursuit involving a Kia without license plates. During his initial hearing, a federal judge ruled his detention legal. He faces charges related to the possession of firearms, ammunition, and methamphetamine. Prosecutors also reported finding a notebook containing information on drug sales and distributors. During the arrest, an associate reportedly threatened officers, stating they did not know who they were dealing with.

In a separate operation in Ciudad Guadalupe Victoria, security forces captured Édgar Hurtado Navarro, alias ‘Sargento Finix.’ Identified as a lead hitman for Israel Leonel Trigueros Muñoz, also known as ‘el Isra,’ Navarro was apprehended following a pursuit of a Chevrolet Cruze. Upon his arrest, authorities seized five firearms of various calibers, ammunition, and 344 grams of methamphetamine packaged in branded wrappers. The operations were conducted by the Fuerza Estatal de Seguridad Ciudadana (FESC), the Secretaría de Marina (SEMAR), and federal agents.
