Mexicali officials request increased funding for security and administration

The State Attorney General's Office, led by María Elena Andrade Ramírez, has requested an additional 57.3 million pesos from the State Congress. The funds are intended to expand radio communication coverage in Mexicali and the Valle area using the Tetrapol system. The expansion aims to improve coordination between various security entities, including the State Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the National Guard, and the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense.

Separately, Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante Martínez defended a 25 million peso expenditure on municipal advisors for the 2026 fiscal year. Responding to questions regarding the scale of the spending, the mayor stated that external expertise is essential for major municipal projects, such as the upcoming Police Academy. She maintained that the costs are transparently documented and not tied to her personal circle.
