Mexicana launches new Chihuahua‑AIFA air route to boost tourism
The State Government of Chihuahua inaugurated a new Mexicana air connection between Chihuahua International Airport (CUU) and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) in the State of Mexico. The service will operate five weekly flights – Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – using Embraer E195 aircraft, providing additional options for business travelers, tourists and general passengers.
The ceremony featured local officials including Tourism Secretary Edibray Gómez Gallegos, federal tourism officials, Mexicana’s director Leobardo Ávila Bojórquez and AIFA’s director Isidoro Pastor Román. Passengers on the inaugural flight were offered a tasting of Chihuahua‑style dried meat and regional wines, while content creators from Mexico City and Hidalgo documented the event to promote the destination. The route is part of a broader strategy to strengthen regional connectivity, increase visitor arrivals and position Chihuahua as a competitive tourism and business hub.
