Mexican and Ecuadorian Authorities Close Nightlife Venues After Inspection Operations
In Mexico's Aguascalientes state, the Directorate General of Gobernación and the state Civil Guard carried out night‑time inspections in the Chapultepec and Himalaya districts. They verified alcohol licenses, operating hours and required signage, suspending a business that failed to meet regulations as part of Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona’s safety programme. Director María Guadalupe Chávez Meza said the checks are preventive and will continue across the metropolitan area.
In Quito, Ecuador, an inter‑institutional operation coordinated by the municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security inspected 39 venues across La Roldós, Colinas del Norte, Pifo and La Mariscal. Five establishments – including a restaurant, a tolerance center, a shop and two hostels – were closed and two discos were suspended for lacking the Single Economic Activity License, sanitary breaches, or illegal activities. Authorities also seized 105 packs of contraband cigarettes, destroyed 22 L of untaxed liquor and verified 246 citizens.
