Mexico authorities arrest official and deport businessman for violent crimes

Several high-profile criminal arrests and legal developments have occurred in Mexico. In Mexico City, businessman Octavio Jorge Cortés Jiménez was deported from San Diego, California, and handed over to authorities in Tijuana. He faces charges of attempted feminicide following a violent assault on a hotel receptionist in the Santa Fe area, an incident captured on security footage.

In Guerrero, José Carlos “N”, the Director of Regulations for the Taxco de Alarcón municipal government, was arrested for aggravated kidnapping. Authorities allege he is a member of the criminal group La Familia Michoacana and that he interfered with communications and information related to the kidnapping of a relative of the local mayor.

Additionally, the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) has charged Iván “N”, also known as “El Cromo,” a suspected leader of the ‘Los Cromos’ organization. Following his arrest in Guadalajara, he has been placed in pretrial detention for the possession of exclusive-use firearms and narcotics intended for sale.
