Mexican authorities dismantle four drug laboratories in Michoacán and Guerrero
Mexican federal and state authorities dismantled four clandestine laboratories used for the production of synthetic drugs, including methamphetamine, in the states of Michoacán and Guerrero. The coordinated operation involved the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the National Guard.
During the operations in Carácuaro, Michoacán, and the Guerrero municipalities of Zirándaro and Coahuayutla de José María Izazaga, security forces were attacked by organized crime members with firearms. Despite the gunfire, officials successfully neutralized the facilities.
Authorities seized more than 10 tons of chemical precursors and substances. The equipment confiscated includes 27 reactors, 54 gas tanks, 45 pots, 57 large-capacity tubs, six 1,000-liter containers, industrial processors, and various other tools used in drug manufacturing.
In a separate operation in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, authorities seized a Chevrolet pickup truck containing approximately 500 kilograms of marijuana. Additionally, in Salamanca, Guanajuato, a search of a property led to the seizure of several containers of unidentified liquid substances and gas cylinders.
