Sinaloa methamphetamine seizure: Authorities dismantle major drug labs
Mexican federal authorities, including the Navy (Semar) and the Secretariat of Security (SSPC), have dismantled several clandestine methamphetamine laboratories in the Sinaloa region, specifically in the Corralejo and Corral Viejo areas. The operations resulted in the seizure of approximately 16.8 tons of methamphetamine in various stages of production.
One of the primary facilities discovered was a massive complex spanning 5,700 square meters, identified as the second largest laboratory dismantled during President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration. The combined operations are estimated to have caused an economic blow of approximately 347 million dollars to criminal organizations. Authorities also seized thousands of liters of chemical precursors and dual-use substances.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) highlighted its role in the success of these operations, stating that the dismantling of eight significant laboratories over the past week was made possible through DEA intelligence and investigative work. While Mexican officials attributed the success to the Naval Intelligence Unit, the DEA emphasized that such large-scale seizures would not have occurred without their bilateral cooperation.
