Mexican authorities launch searches for missing teens in Yucatán and Campeche
The state prosecutor’s office in Yucatán activated an Amber Alert after 16‑year‑old Gabriela Sunshine Cauich Canché vanished from her home in the Centro neighbourhood of Mérida on 19 February 2026. She is described as 1.47 m tall, 55 kg, with short wavy red‑dyed hair, wrist scars and a snake tattoo on her right hand. Authorities have asked the public to report any information through multiple hotlines.
In Campeche, the Fiscalía General del Estado issued a search notice for 15‑year‑old Karen Guadalupe García Sánchez, who was last seen on 6 June in her home in Conhuas, Calakmul. She is about 1.60 m tall, of robust build, with long dark hair, a right‑shoulder catheter and a silver pendant shaped like a cross. The public is likewise urged to provide tips via the state’s official channels.
