Mexican authorities seize illegal fuel in Veracruz and Chihuahua
Federal and state forces carried out a raid on a makeshift fuel storage site in Sayula de Alemán, Veracruz, seizing large quantities of gasoline, containers and equipment used for illegal fuel distribution. The operation involved the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the Federal Ministry Police, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Navy, state police and civil protection personnel. No official volume of fuel seized or arrests were initially reported, and investigators will determine the source of the hydrocarbons.
In Chihuahua City, state security officials stopped a tanker truck after detecting a strong hydrocarbon odor. The truck was found leaking and contained approximately 27,900 liters of fuel of suspect illegal origin. Three men driving the vehicle were detained, and the fuel was transferred to Pemex facilities for chemical testing. The detainees and the vehicle were handed over to the public prosecutor for further investigation.
