Jalisco fuel theft network dismantled by federal authorities
Authorities in Jalisco have dismantled a sophisticated illegal fuel storage and analysis network. A joint operation involving the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC), and the Mexican Army targeted two properties in the municipalities of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga and Zapopan.
The investigation, prompted by an anonymous report of suspicious fuel transfers, led to the seizure of significant infrastructure. In Tlajomulco, officials recovered 30 tractor-trailers, 21 cylindrical tankers, 26 large containers (some labeled Premium and Magna), six nearly full tanks, and various other storage vessels.
In the Zapopan location, investigators seized 21 laptops, several hard drives, a tablet, 19 USB devices, a short firearm, and various vehicles. Notably, the sites were equipped with specialized technical instruments, including sulfur analyzers, spectrometers, densimeters, and equipment for testing distillation and flammability, suggesting the operation functioned as a technical center for analyzing fuel quality rather than just a storage site.
