Mexican business groups urge transportation infrastructure improvements

Business leaders in Mexico are calling for improved transportation infrastructure to support commerce and logistics. Alfredo López Villarreal, president of Coparmex Coahuila Sureste, has urged the federal government to allocate resources in the 2027 budget to address congestion and frequent accidents on the Saltillo-Monterrey highways. He suggested exploring the construction of a third lane to increase capacity and reduce economic losses caused by traffic delays.

In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, the Asociación de Transportistas de Carga (ATC) and the municipal government have strengthened their alliance to improve cargo transport operations. During a meeting with Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, the ATC presented proposals to enhance infrastructure and operational efficiency, aiming to maintain the city’s status as Mexico’s primary land port for foreign trade.
