Mexican transportation infrastructure and logistics advocacy

Business leaders and transport associations in Mexico are advocating for significant improvements to transportation infrastructure to support national commerce and logistics. In Coahuila, Coparmex Coahuila Sureste president Alfredo López Villarreal has called for federal budget allocations to address congestion and accidents on the Saltillo-Monterrey highways, suggesting the addition of a third lane to mitigate economic losses.

In Tamaulipas, the Asociación de Transportistas de Carga (ATC) has worked with the municipal government of Nuevo Laredo to propose infrastructure and operational enhancements to maintain the city’s position as a primary land port for foreign trade.

Following these local efforts, businessman Pedro Lozano Martínez met with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to discuss road transport challenges. Lozano Martínez emphasized that Nuevo Laredo’s role in commercial exchange with the United States requires proactive public policies, improved infrastructure, and increased coordination between the government and the productive sector to support international trade growth and job security.
