Mexican Chamber of Deputies to send 7 tons of aid to earthquake‑stricken Venezuela

Ricardo Monreal Ávila, president of the Political Coordination Board of Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies, announced that the aid collected at the legislative building in San Lázaro will be shipped to Venezuela to help victims of recent earthquakes. The shipment totals almost seven tonnes – about 2,559 kg of food, nearly 2,000 L of bottled water, 2,400 kg of cleaning products, blankets and other items. Monreal emphasized that the aid consists solely of goods, stating “we will keep collecting; we do not receive cash, only food, water, supplies.” The items will be transferred through the Mexican Navy, the Defense Ministry or, if needed, directly via the Venezuelan embassy.

The initiative is part of a broader humanitarian response, with Monreal indicating that collection efforts will continue while other legislative priorities, such as reforms on juvenile criminal responsibility and animal‑welfare laws, are also being discussed in the Chamber.
