Mexican Communities Block Roads Demanding Justice for Murdered Twins and Missing Girl

In Matamoros, Tamaulipas, relatives of 21‑year‑old twins Denisse and Dinora García Cruz blocked the International Bridge Tratado de Libre Comercio‑Los Indios on Friday, demanding that the Tamaulipas state prosecutor secure the arrest of four U.S. citizens identified as suspects in the July 26 stabbing murders and that U.S. authorities cooperate to bring them to Mexico. The protest disrupted traffic on the Matamoros‑Reynosa highway and access to the border crossing.

In Los Reyes, Michoacán, family and friends of 13‑year‑old María Guadalupe Elizabeth T. G., who vanished on July 29, blocked the Los Reyes‑Peribán road near the community of Huatarillo. They called on the state prosecutor to intensify the search and locate the girl alive, prompting a temporary halt to traffic on the route.

Both blockades illustrate community pressure on Mexican authorities to act swiftly on violent crimes and disappearances.
