Mexican companies face rising security risks from offensive AI

IT and security executives from 12 companies operating in Mexico have identified significant barriers to addressing security risks accelerated by artificial intelligence. During a roundtable hosted by Netmedia’s IT Masters Club, with support from Tenable and Arteria, participants highlighted that the speed of offensive AI allows attackers to execute tasks in minutes that previously took human researchers weeks.

Key challenges identified include a lack of visibility into assets, technological dependencies, and organizational silos. Approximately 57% of participants noted that fragmented data, excessive alerts, and siloed structures hinder the reduction of security exposure. There is also a growing concern regarding ‘Shadow AI’ and the risk of attackers leveraging AI service permissions to move laterally within corporate environments.

For the upcoming 12 months, priorities for these organizations include the automation of remediation through agentic AI, the consolidation of security tools, and improved governance of cloud environments and unsupervised AI usage.
