Mexican Senate legislators clash over Alejandro Moreno investigations FAST-MOVING
A physical and verbal altercation occurred in the Mexican Senate between Morena deputy Arturo Ávila and PRI deputy Carlos Gutiérrez Mancilla. The confrontation, which involved shoving and insults, took place in the Patio del Federalismo following Ávila's press conference regarding the potential removal of immunity (desafuero) for PRI national leader Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas.
Ávila accused Moreno of corruption and alleged that the leader faces investigations involving patrimonial damage of approximately 83 million pesos and properties valued at over 500 million pesos. In response, Mancilla directed insults at Ávila, calling him a 'narco spokesperson' and a follower of Moreno.
Separately, authorities in Campeche arrested Carlos Alberto Medina Hernández, a former official under Moreno's administration. Medina Hernández is accused of embezzlement involving 36 million pesos through shell companies, allegedly linked to the broadcaster Mayavisión. The investigation also involves Luis Antonio Espinosa Campos, a contractor connected to Moreno's brother.
