Mexican Electoral Tribunal issues rulings on PRD CDMX and INE Yucatán
The Regional Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) has ruled that certain individuals attempting to lead the PRD in Mexico City are ineligible for office. The court determined that their designation lacked legal basis, as the State Council assembly used to appoint them did not legally exist. The ruling also identified undue interference from the Morena party, specifically naming federal deputy Víctor Hugo Lobo Román, and noted attempts at nepotism regarding the proposed leadership of his son.
In a separate matter, the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF dismissed a legal challenge brought by Milagros del Pilar Herrero Buchanan. Herrero sought to regain her position as a citizen electoral counselor for the Local Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in Yucatán. The court upheld the INE's decision to exclude her from the council after a secondary screening process revealed she held affiliation with a political party, violating the requirements for the role.
