Mexican environmental agencies seize illegal timber in Michoacán and State of Mexico
The Fiscalía General del Estado de Michoacán (FGE) and the federal environmental prosecutor (PROFEPA) conducted a joint inspection at a forest‑product storage center in Madero, Michoacán. Inspectors found missing inventory records and seized pine, oyamel and other timber pending investigation.
In the State of Mexico, PROFEPA closed construction projects in Jilotzingo and Almoloya del Río after receiving complaints of illegal tree cutting and unauthorized land‑use changes. The agency also shut down a forest‑product storage and transformation facility, seizing rolls of timber, sawn wood and related machinery. Administrative proceedings are underway to determine responsibility and enforce environmental regulations.
