Mexican forces bust fentanyl lab in Zapopan, Jalisco

Federal authorities in Mexico carried out a coordinated raid in Zapopan, Jalisco, targeting a clandestine laboratory that produced fentanyl and methamphetamine. Elements of the Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the Attorney General's Office (FGR) entered a home in the Mesa Colorada neighborhood and seized approximately one kilogram of fentanyl, various precursor chemicals, a firearm, a vehicle and communications equipment.

The operation prevented the production of an estimated 625,000 doses of illicit drugs, representing an economic loss of more than 714,000 pesos for the criminal groups operating in the region. The seizure is part of a broader crackdown announced by SSPC chief Omar García Harfuch, who noted that since the start of the current administration on 1 October 2024, authorities have dismantled about 2,400 clandestine labs and seized over 400 tons of drugs, averting millions of doses from reaching the streets.
