Mexican labor groups protest political pressure and fiscal measures

Government workers and political organizations in Mexico are raising concerns regarding labor rights and political coercion in Quintana Roo and Yucatán.

In Quintana Roo, the PRI has questioned a recent march in Chetumal, alleging that government employees may have faced political pressure to participate. César Viera, the party's political operations secretary, warned against using institutional structures or economic necessity to influence political participation, describing such practices as “bureaucratic coercion.”

In Yucatán, the union representing workers in the state executive branch (Stspeidy), led by Jervis García Vázquez, has requested a dialogue with the government. The union is protesting the “controlled environment” policy implemented by the Secretariat of Administration and Finance. Workers claim these measures—which include freezing career advancement, blocking promotions, and prohibiting retroactive payments—violate labor rights and redistribute workloads without additional compensation.
