Mexican leaders raise budget and transparency concerns
In Sinaloa, the PRI parliamentary group coordinator, Irma Moreno Ovalles, has criticized the federal budget proposal, labeling the state the ‘ugly duckling’ of the budget. She noted that the proposed federalized spending of approximately 68.125 billion pesos for the next fiscal year represents only an increase equivalent to inflation, failing to address the state's political, economic, and security crises, including the rise in femicides.
In Yucatán, business organizations including Coparmex Mérida, Canacintra Yucatán, and Canaco Servytur are demanding greater transparency regarding state land purchases. These transactions involve the donation of land to the federal Tren Maya project. Business leaders are calling for the disclosure of appraisals, contracts, and investment analyses, arguing that state resources used for federal projects should be clearly justified and evaluated for their direct benefit to the local region.
