Mexican legislators propose environmental and healthcare reforms

In Mexico, members of the Green Ecological Party of Mexico (PVEM) have introduced separate legislative initiatives targeting environmental protection and healthcare regulation.

Deputy Oscar Bautista Villegas proposed a reform to the Federal Environmental Responsibility Law. The initiative aims to strengthen the reparation of environmental damage, ensuring that compensation is integral, effective, and verifiable. The proposal mandates that judicial determinations for environmental repair must consider scientific evidence, the magnitude and duration of damage, biodiversity impact, and the ecosystem's natural regenerative capacity.

In Veracruz, Deputy Carlos Marcelo Ruiz Sánchez introduced a decree to reform the State Health Law. The proposal seeks to regulate the practice of podiatry by requiring professionals to hold legally issued titles, certificates, or diplomas. This measure aims to ensure public transparency regarding the qualifications of practitioners, following models already implemented in states such as Puebla and Nuevo León.
