Mexico 2027 Economic Package to focus on social spending and tax evasion
The 2027 Economic Package is set to be delivered to the Chamber of Deputies, focusing on social programs and measures to combat tax evasion and avoidance. Ricardo Monreal, leader of the Morena deputies, stated that while there are no current plans for new taxes, the government intends to deepen social policies, which are expected to exceed one trillion pesos.
Analysts note that the package, which includes the Revenue Law and the Expenditure Budget, will be critical for evaluating Mexico's public finance risks. While the government aims for fiscal consolidation, projections suggest a public sector financial requirement of 3.5% of GDP for 2027. The legislative process includes deadlines in October for the Revenue Law and mid-November for the Expenditure Budget.
