Mexican municipal security councils convene in La Paz and Ciudad Juárez

In La Paz, the ninth ordinary session of the Municipal Public Security Council was chaired by council secretary Sotero Vergara Benítez on behalf of Mayor Martha Guerrero Sánchez. Officials highlighted the need for citizen involvement in crime reporting, urban cleanliness and youth education, and outlined cooperation with federal forces, the Navy, the National Guard and the State Prosecutor's Office under the Unified Command for the Eastern Zone of the State of Mexico.

In Ciudad Juárez, Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel led the Coordination Table for the Construction of Peace, presenting July security statistics – 12 homicides, 54 cases of violence against women and 153 arrests – and praised the fire department for extinguishing a tire‑pile fire that authorities suspect was deliberately set. The meeting emphasized ongoing inter‑agency collaboration among municipal public security, traffic safety, civil protection, the National Defense Secretariat and the Guard.
