Various Mexican and Latin American municipalities announce tax and utility discounts

Several regional governments in Mexico and Panama have launched programs to facilitate tax regularizations through significant discounts. In Sonora, Mexico, the state government is offering a 100 percent discount on surcharges for various state taxes and rights, including vehicle plate revalidation and lodging taxes. Similarly, Sinaloa has announced discounts of up to 100 percent on surcharges and fines, alongside a 50 percent reduction in driver's license renewals during its Buen Fin program.

In other Mexican cities, Chihuahua Capital is offering an 80 percent discount on property tax surcharges, while Ciudad Juárez is deploying mobile units to provide discounts on property taxes and traffic violations. Hermosillo has introduced a 15 percent discount on property tax bases and a program to freeze and eventually condone water utility debts. In San Miguelito, Panama, the municipality is offering up to 50 percent discounts on vehicle circulation taxes to attract new taxpayers.

In Colombia, the Antioquia Departmental Assembly approved 1.3 trillion pesos to fund the first phase of the El Sable Regional Aqueduct, aimed at providing potable water to Carepa, Apartadó, and Turbo. Meanwhile, in Jalisco, Mexico, Governor Pablo Lemus has proposed a three-month water bill waiver for 627 neighborhoods affected by supply shortages.
