Mexican municipalities implement police training and urban safety programs

Municipal governments in Mexico are advancing professionalization and safety initiatives through specialized training and educational programs.

In Ixtaczoquitlán, the local administration is conducting a training program for over 120 police officers. The curriculum includes firearms training, intervention techniques, and tactical maneuvers. The program aims to help officers obtain the Certificado Único Policial (CUP), which requires passing confidence evaluations and completing basic competency courses. Currently, more than 50 percent of the force holds this certification.

In Morelia, officers are participating in an international Information Security seminar in Shanghai, China. Coordinated with the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation, the training focuses on cybersecurity, data protection, and artificial intelligence risk prevention.

Additionally, the Morelia government presented its ‘Guardianes de la Movilidad’ program at a national meeting of the Mexican Network of Educating Cities in León, Guanajuato. This initiative promotes road safety education from childhood to prevent accidents and foster responsible use of public spaces.
