Mexican municipalities install water tanks and boost flood‑prevention efforts

In Nuevo Laredo, the municipal water commission (COMAPA) and the city government began installing 200 450‑liter tinacos to assist families living in high‑altitude neighborhoods where water pressure drops during the hot season. The first 28 units were placed in the El Maestro colonia, with plans to reach 48 installations there and continue distributing tanks to other affected areas. Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal said the program targets households selected through a prior census to ensure reliable water storage.

Separately, Conagua brigades in Pueblo Nuevo, Guanajuato intensified preventive measures ahead of the rainy season. Working with state and municipal civil‑protection authorities, they inspected flood‑prone zones, cleared channel obstructions, checked embankments and prepared high‑capacity pumps to rapidly respond to potential water‑level rises, aiming to protect residents and property.
