Mexican municipalities launch animal rescue and wellness initiatives

The Institute of Municipal Animal Care (IMCA) in Corregidora, Querétaro, responded to a citizen report by safely capturing a snake in a residential area and returning a rescued skunk to its natural habitat in El Cimatario National Park. IMCA urged residents to avoid handling wildlife and to report sightings for professional assistance.

In Puebla, city officials organized free animal‑wellness days from June 8‑12 across several neighborhoods, offering rabies vaccinations, sterilizations, basic care advice and other veterinary services for dogs and cats. The program, promoted by Mayor Pepe Chedraui and Environment Secretary Iván Herrera, aimed to improve companion‑animal health and promote responsible pet ownership.
