Mexican municipalities upgrade public lighting to improve safety

Municipal governments in Tlalnepantla and Mazatlán are implementing public lighting programs to enhance urban safety and visibility.

In Tlalnepantla, Mayor Raciel Pérez Cruz announced the “Luminarias Nuestra Ciudad” program. The initiative focuses on modernizing street lighting to eliminate dark spots and improve security for pedestrians and drivers. Recent works on Avenida Tlalnepantla and surrounding streets included the installation and replacement of 119 luminaries, including 100 W and 50 W units, to recover public spaces.

In Mazatlán, the local government installed 119 new LED luminaries across sectors such as Ampliación Ladrillera, Villa Carey, and Residencial Las Flores II. Led by Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez, the project involved an investment of 510,810 pesos. The upgrades aim to improve nighttime visibility and functionality of public spaces for local families.
