Mexican Navy activates emergency plans for hurricane and cold front
The Mexican Navy (Semar) has activated the ‘Plan Marina’ to provide emergency assistance across multiple regions due to severe weather events. In Jalisco and Colima, naval personnel are responding to the effects of Hurricane Trudy. Efforts include clearing roads blocked by landslides and fallen trees, distributing food supplies, and managing temporary shelters. In Jalisco, 19 shelters have been established in Cabo Corrientes, Tomatlán, and La Huerta. In Colima, five shelters are operational in Manzanillo, Armería, Tecomán, Ixtlahuacán, and Comala. Additionally, maritime navigation has been restricted in several Pacific ports, including Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, due to high waves.
Simultaneously, the Navy is responding to flooding in southern Veracruz caused by cold front number 2. In the Coatzacoalcos region, emergency brigades are conducting evacuations and distributing potable water in municipalities such as Villa Allende, Agua Dulce, Mundo Nuevo, Nanchital, and Acayucan. Personnel are also using industrial pumps to remove accumulated water and clearing debris from residential areas and roadways.
