Mexico's Navy Seizes 270 kg of Cocaine at Manzanillo Port

On 20 June 2026, Mexico's Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) led a maritime security operation at the port of Manzanillo, Colima. Naval units from the Unidad Naval de Protección Portuaria (UNAPROP) inspected a container during unloading and uncovered 268 packages containing about 270 kg of cocaine. The seizure was carried out in coordination with the Agencia Nacional de Aduanas (ANAM), the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC) and the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) through its Agencia de Investigación Criminal (AIC). Two male individuals traveling in irregular migratory status were found aboard the vessel; they were taken into custody and handed over to the appropriate authorities. The confiscated drugs were transferred to the public prosecutor to be included in the criminal investigation. The incident is part of ongoing efforts by the Mexican Navy to monitor and protect the nation's ports from illicit trafficking.
