Mexico Navy Seizes Tons of Cocaine and Weapons in Guerrero and Sinaloa

Mexico’s Navy (SEMAR) reported a major drug‑trafficking seizure on 11 June 2026 in the state of Guerrero. Naval forces intercepted more than two tonnes of alleged cocaine in Tecpan de Galeana and offshore Pacific waters, valuing roughly 463 million pesos, and detained five individuals linked to organized crime.

In separate operations in the state of Sinaloa, SEMAR secured firearms, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices. In the Mazatlán municipalities of Las Iguanas and Palmillas, agents recovered a long‑gun, 17 magazines, 6,642 cartridges, 16 homemade explosives and several ballistic vests after being attacked by armed civilians. A second sweep near Quilá, Culiacán, yielded two long‑guns, 19 magazines, 1,734 cartridges and a tactical vest. The seized weapons and explosives were handed to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
