Mexican President's Approval Plummets as She Shifts to Hard‑Line Base
A recent poll commissioned by Lorena Becerra's firm shows the Mexican president’s approval rating falling from 80 % to 59 % over the coming year, while disapproval rises from 15 % to 39 %. The ruling Morena party’s voting intention also drops from 45 % to 33 %.
Facing these declines, the president has intensified an ideologically charged, often misleading discourse aimed specifically at the party’s “hard‑core” supporters, who make up about 35 % of the electorate. The strategy targets older voters—particularly those over 60 who receive the senior‑pension benefit—while largely abandoning broader segments of society. Opposition parties are urged to focus their communication on the groups the government is neglecting in order to win the election.
