Mexican Rotary clubs elect new presidents, sustain community projects

The Rotary Club of San José del Cabo in Baja California Sur installed Rafael Cossío León as its 2026‑2027 president. He pledged to expand the club’s school water‑potabilisation programme, which recently installed drinking‑water stations at Escuela Secundaria No. 14, serving about 1,400 students, and to continue fundraising and family‑oriented events.

In Mérida, Yucatán, Edward José Medina Ocampo assumed the presidency of the Rotary Club Mérida Itzaes for the same term. He said the club will maintain its predecessor’s initiatives, including mangrove‑restoration work in eastern Yucatán, donations of glasses, wheelchairs and prosthetic hands, and free surgeries for cleft palate and cataracts. The new board will work with Rotary International and local authorities to advance these services.

Both clubs aim to preserve and broaden social‑service projects that benefit schools, the environment and health care in their respective communities.
