Mexican security forces launch Code Red operation in Alvarado after gunfire, seize weapons near El Colorado

On July 23, municipal police, state police and the National Guard activated a Code Red security operation in the coastal municipality of Alvarado, Jalisco, after residents reported gunfire near the Valente Cruz colony along Federal Highway 180. The forces cordoned the area, but preliminary reports indicated no injuries or fatalities and no arrests have been confirmed. Patrols and inspections continue to restore order.

In a separate incident on a road toward El Colorado, an army convoy encountered armed civilians near the Las Torres point. A chase and exchange of fire involved army, National Guard, navy, state and municipal police. Authorities seized three vehicles, firearms, ammunition and barricade devices known as "ponchallantas". No detainees were reported at the time.
