Mexican security forces seize firearms and vehicles in Michoacán and Tamaulipas
Security forces in Mexico have conducted separate operations resulting in the seizure of significant quantities of weaponry and vehicles in Michoacán and Tamaulipas.
In Apatzingán, Michoacán, joint efforts by the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, and the Guardia Nacional led to the recovery of three rifles (calibers .223, 7.62x39, and 5.56mm), 1,340 rounds of ammunition, 38 magazines, ballistic vests, and helmets. Authorities also recovered a Chevrolet truck and an Italika motorcycle that had been reported stolen.
In Mier, Tamaulipas, the Guardia Estatal seized seven firearms, including a Barrett rifle, along with 109 cartridges, 14 magazines, two ballistic vests, and 40 spike strips (ponchallantas). Two vehicles were also recovered in the Parían neighborhood. The items were reportedly abandoned by armed individuals who fled before police arrived. The Fiscalía General de la República has launched an investigation into the incidents.
