Mexican Senator Malú Micher faces criticism over Aeroméxico dispute
Mexican Senator Malú Micher of the Morena party has drawn public criticism following her social media complaints regarding Aeroméxico’s updated access policies for Premier Lounge VIP rooms. Micher, representing Guanajuato, expressed dissatisfaction with changes to access for domestic Premier Class passengers and questioned the lack of notice regarding these policy shifts.
In response to backlash accusing her of using her political position to address personal privileges, Micher clarified that her outburst was motivated by witnessing another passenger in distress. She stated she was moved by seeing an elderly woman with a medical compression sleeve struggling to carry heavy luggage and navigate stairs, which prompted her to intervene and voice her frustration with the airline's service.
Critics, including PAN Deputy Federico Döring, have pointed to a contradiction between the Morena party’s austerity discourse and the senator’s focus on exclusive airport lounges, suggesting the Senate should prioritize issues such as healthcare worker demands and justice for missing persons.
