Mexican State Governments Mobilize Emergency Response for Road Work and Wildfire

The government of Querétaro asked federal agencies to intervene after heavy rains damaged the federal Highway 57 near Cuesta China, requesting safety markings, traffic slow‑downs and repairs to unstable embankments. Federal officials from SICT, CAPUFE and Banobras plan to begin work on July 13 to restore water flow and reduce risk on the highway.

In the community of San José de Comondú, Baja California Sur, state authorities coordinated with municipal and federal forces to contain a wildfire on July 9. While the fire caused material losses and environmental damage, no fatalities were reported. Officials are assessing damage to homes and providing temporary employment and other emergency assistance to affected families.
