Baja California rolls out murals, park rehab and addiction prevention

The government of Baja California, led by Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, has coordinated a series of community‑safety actions. The State Security Secretariat organized more than 112 clean‑up and rehabilitation sessions in parks, sports fields and other public spaces, painted 20 murals with anti‑crime messages and installed 58 alarm buttons in shops, schools and workplaces that are linked to the central C5 control center. The initiative, which also included forums on gender equality, comprehensive security and a culture of reporting in San Felipe, Tecate and San Quintín, reached over 2,300 residents who joined citizen security networks.

In parallel, the Institute of Psychiatry of Baja California (IPEBC) continued its permanent addiction‑prevention strategy for high‑school students. Through the Community Mental Health Program, psychologists delivered 3,018 talks on life skills, informed decision‑making and resilience, offering free counseling via a 24‑hour hotline and directing families to community mental‑health centers.
