Mexican states launch student-focused addiction prevention programs
Educational and health authorities in Mexico are implementing large-scale initiatives to combat substance abuse among youth. In Baja California Sur, more than 40,000 students participated in a state-wide day of activities organized by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP). The program utilized sports, arts, and academic dynamics to promote mental health awareness and provide alternatives for the positive use of free time.
In Querétaro, the State Council Against Addictions (CECA) is conducting the ‘Voces del Cambio’ (Voices of Change) sessions. These workshops, which have reached over 2,200 people across seven municipalities, involve students and parents in discussions regarding risk signals and open communication. The program aims to foster a culture of peace and legality while strengthening decision-making skills among adolescents.
