Mexican Stock Exchange resumes trading after technical outage
A technical fault in the link systems of the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) halted trading in the early hours of 29 June 2026. The exchange declared an administrative pause to prevent price distortions and ruled out any external cyber‑attack. After deploying contingency protocols, connectivity was restored by mid‑morning, allowing the market to reopen with the IPC index modestly lower, down about 0.20% to 52,410 points.
The following day, BMV opened lower again, with the IPC slipping 0.22% to 67,495.13 points as investors reacted to mixed signals from Wall Street and concerns over regional geopolitics. The decline was compounded by a fall in key Mexican stocks such as Gentera, Regional and Volaris. Analysts noted the broader market was also influenced by the upcoming review of the US‑Mexico‑Canada trade agreement and by volatile oil prices linked to U.S.–Iran talks.
