Mexican Stock Index Falls 0.25% for Third Consecutive Week

The Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) slipped 0.02% on Friday, extending a weekly loss of 0.25% and marking three straight weeks of declines, with the Índice de Precios y Cotizaciones (IPC) ending at 67,060.49 units. Analysts linked the broader market rally to expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will adopt a less restrictive stance after June’s employment report. "El mercado de capitales cerró la semana con ganancias generalizadas a nivel global, ante la expectativa de que la Fed será menos restrictiva en el año," said Gabriela Siller, director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base. Within Mexico, the biggest weekly losers were Grupo Carso (-5.46%), América Móvil (-2.89%), Arca Continental (-2.19%), Volaris (-2.14%) and Walmex (-1.36%). Enrique Covarrubias of Grupo Financiero Actinver noted the index is still up 4.28% year‑to‑date. Regional and Banorte led the gains. The Mexican peso held steady at 17.48 per dollar. Trading volume reached 37 million shares, valued at 2.592 billion pesos (about $148 million). Top gainers included Club América (2.23%), Grupo Lamosa (2.09%) and Grupo Rotoplas (1.76%); top losers were Aeroméxico (‑3.84%), Nutrisa (‑2.62%) and Organización Soriana (‑2.57%).
