Mexican Stock Market Slides 0.07% as IPC Index Falls to 66,356 Points

The Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) closed Thursday down 0.07%, with the main index, the Índice de Precios y Cotizaciones (IPC), slipping to 66,356.09 points. The decline mirrored losses on the U.S. Dow Jones, Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500. Major Mexican issuers that fell included Banorte (-1.67%), Banco del Bajío (-1.55%), La Comer (-1.35%), Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (-1.34%) and Volaris (-1.23%). Gains were led by Grupo Carso (+2.31%), Sigma Foods (+2.04%) and GCC (+1.96%). The Mexican peso weakened 0.23% against the dollar, trading at 17.42 per USD. Trading volume reached 149 million shares, worth 15.76 billion pesos (about 904.7 million USD). For July, the market is down 0.91% while year‑to‑date it remains up 3.18%.
