Mexican Stock Market Swings With Gains and Losses
The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) rose 0.89% on Tuesday, with the main IPC index climbing to 66,713.83 points. Analysts linked the rally to global optimism about technology stocks, especially those linked to artificial intelligence. Leading gainers included Grupo México (+4.05%), Banorte (+3.94%), Volaris (+2.22%) and Orbia (+1.29%). The peso firmed 0.17% against the dollar, trading at 17.40 per US dollar.
On Monday the BMV fell 0.77%, with the IPC slipping to 66,122.78 points amid broader market caution ahead of major earnings reports. Top losers were Cemex (‑3.74%), Gentera (‑2.89%), GCC (‑2.48%) and the two airport groups Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico and del Sureste (‑2.47% and ‑2.41%). The peso appreciated 0.51% to 17.43 per dollar. Both sessions reflected the direction of global markets, which posted mixed results during the same periods.
