Mexican towns demand repairs to deteriorating roads in Calakmul and Tula

In the community of El Manantial, Calakmul, municipal commissioner Luis Fernando Aguilar said the 8.5‑kilometre access road has been unusable for eight years, leaving about 500 residents isolated and hampering travel to health services and neighboring villages. Repeated requests for rehabilitation have been ignored, and officials claim paperwork has been lost.

In Tula de Allende, residents of the Osa Menor street blocked the Tula‑Refinería highway demanding that the National Water Commission (Conagua) either complete its hydraulic works or remove a blockage that they say causes the Viejo Requena channel to overflow, flooding homes with sewage up to half a metre deep. The protest also calls for mayor Cristian Martínez Reséndiz to intervene after municipal support was lacking.

Both groups are pressing local authorities for urgent road repairs and infrastructure solutions to restore safe mobility for their communities.
