Municipal authorities in Mexico have carried out large‑scale waste removal operations. In Los Cabos, more than 60 tons of rubbish were cleared from the López Obrador neighbourhood. Ecatepec’s night‑collection programme removed 14 449 tons of waste in six months, preventing floods and improving drainage. Huixquilucan collected three tonnes of electronic, plastic and cardboard waste, while Ciudad Juárez installed temporary “Puntos Limpios” containers for furniture, household items and tires until 3 August.

Coastal clean‑up actions were also undertaken in Chile. The towns of Tongoy and Guanaqueros organised community‑driven beach clean‑ups after a recent frontal system, removing debris, branches and sediment from the shoreline. In Cancun, a volunteer effort by Cancún Sailing Catamarans recovered 45 kg of solid waste and one kilogram of cigarette butts from the beaches.

Other municipal clean‑up measures included the removal of an abandoned Renault 11 vehicle from the Las Agaves neighbourhood in the Capital city, and a legislative proposal in Campeche to create a circular‑economy framework that would increase transparency and accountability for waste management.
